01 Jun Beacon Park – Another Bright Spot in Detroit!
Detroit’s newest public park is quickly becoming a downtown destination – and for good reason. The carefully designed space incorporates lush gardens, bright architecture and an open-air concept to add to the energy of the city. ICONIC played a key role in facilitating the park’s development, along with award-winning architect Theodore Touloukian and collaborative landscape designers at Detroit-based livingLAB.
ICONIC consulted with DTE Energy and the Downtown Detroit Partnership to develop the land surrounding DTE’s headquarters into a truly brilliant expanse. Our job was to advise on leasing strategy and help deliver a high-quality tenant partner to the development, on a tight timeline.
Enter, Lumen Detroit.
Key to Beacon Park’s vibrancy is Lumen Detroit, a restaurant operated by the LePage family, owners of Birmingham-based Griffin Claw Brewing Company and a host of other Metro Detroit properties. The restaurant’s focus on outside lighting and natural accents add to the appeal of the park and its atmosphere. Though hundreds of restaurateurs were interested in anchoring the development, DTE Energy selected the LePage family through consulting with ICONIC. That trust has proven to be well-founded, as Lumen has already earned strong accolades for space and taste since opening in March.
As the park kicks off its summer events series on June 7th, we’re proud to have played a part in the development of another iconic Detroit gathering place. The park is now home to weekly events like volleyball leagues on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Yoga in the Park on Sunday mornings.
